About the Journey

Since 1998, Gukan Raj has been fully involved in the field of ceramics, he has travelled and worked extensively under various senior artists in India, UK and Korea where he gained tremendous knowledge in both hand built and thrown works, firing techniques and in constructing kilns. His perseverance and enthusiasm in the field won him the National Award for Ceramic Arts in 2017.

Gukanraj studied ceramics design at the Government College of Fine Arts, Chennai and since 2007 has been actively involved in developing the Ceramic Department at the Kalakshetra Foundation.

Family as a team

Sangeetha

Sangeetha is the back bone of our studio. She is responsible for the smooth functioning and consistent energy of our studio. Inspite of her her busy daily schedule, she manages to find time to experiment and work with clay.

Yathuri

The little, upcoming artist. An exceptionally creative mind always engaged in artistic endeavours. Her playful experiments with clay and other art mediums are not only fascinating, but are also a constant source of inspiration for the studio.

Bhairav

He is an Indian native dog, adopted from one of the litters at the Kalakshetra Foundation. He is an affectionate and energetic tail-wagger who loves all who come by. He is great company to have and he enjoys being a part of all the happenings.
