Gukanraj studied ceramics design at the Government College of Fine Arts, Chennai and since 2007 has been actively involved in developing the Ceramic Department at the Kalakshetra Foundation.
He has been fully involved in the field of ceramics, he has travelled and worked extensively under various senior artists in India, UK and Korea where he gained tremendous knowledge in building works, firing techniques and in constructing kilns. His perseverance and enthusiasm in the field won him the National Award for Ceramic Arts in 2017

Located in a quite pocket of Kottivakkam, our studio is an intimate workspace where artists not only learn the complete ceramic process but also benefit from Gukan Raj’s vast ceramic knowledge and his artistic repertoire. The studio environment encourages collective working and sharing of knowledge, whilst offering the professional support required for individual artists to carry out their works.
